EZ Pass transponder location
« on: April 18, 2016, 07:45:25 PM »

Where are you guys mounting/hiding your EZ Pass transponder?  Can it go in the glove box of a Road Glide? I really don't want to mount it on the windshield or the paint of the fairing.   I'm going to be getting one for a road trip out East this summer.  Thanks,

I have used Oklahoma's  for years in the saddle bag of my Road King and in the fairing storage of my Road Glide with never a problem. Without any kind of mount, just laying in the bag.

I have the Fast Trak here in California.  I (and others) don't even carry the transponder on my bike.  All of my license plates are registered on my account and when the toll booth takes a photo they run it through the Fast Trak web site prior to mailing out a ticket.  If the license plate number is in their system, no ticket.

At times, I've not had the transponder in my car or truck also....same thing, no ticket.

I Velcro mine to the inside of my saddlebag lid. No problems.

I mounted mine (e-z pass) under the fairing, never have to worry about it, always picked up by the senors.

X2!!!

Same here on the right coast.

Easy Peezy, all our trucks and my Roadie are all tied into one unit.

Some Dyna guys, that I Ride with at times do the old "reach behind" and hide their tag with their clutch hand.

Ain't even going to try that on a Touring Rig! Plus, Karma is a B#%ch!!!

I didn't know that.. love it

I learned it from other members on this forum from Nor Cal.  Actually, I think it was Fred (Kingsalmon) that first told me and that was about ten years ago.  At one time, six vehicles on my account and only one transponder.  I couldn't even tell you where the transponder is at now.  Tried to use it three or four years ago before I came to San Diego and it didn't beep on the bay area bridges.....dead battery.  :nixweiss:

Every now and then I'll get the email telling me that they took another $30 to apply to my account with a statement showing which toll roads I've been on down here.

We have new express fast track lanes up here in NorCal that theoretically need a new type of transponder set on the proper setting. As I too never carry my transponder, I'm not sure how it's going to work.

I had to call the Maine EZ Pass office to renew my account card, so asked about what happens if you don’t have the transponder on the bike. She indicated what JC stated - they check your plate and implement a deduct from your account. She also indicated not to do this because no discounts will apply and you’d pay the full toll rate. I learned something new with this, as I didn’t recognize I was receiving any type of discount. I went over the minimum in March and saved 50% from the stated toll expense across the board. :nixweiss:
