If memory serves correctly my state doesn't have specific legislation for this; though it's just a standard practice.  There are two lights within a mile of my house in each direction that are bad about this.  You stop, you wait for what seems a couple of light cycles, then if nothing is coming you pick a safe time and you go.  It's no big deal.  Have watched the city police bikes do exactly the same thing.

Generally when that happens around my area there's few or no cars around to help trigger the light. After two cycles I'll go for it. No protection by law here either so you have to more than careful.

Sadly none of this would be necessary if they would just get off their lazy butts and adjust the sensitivity of the sensors.  My experience in Indiana is that they lack both the motivation and the intelligence to fix the real issue.  So at least now we can ignore the light legally rather than just continue to be scofflaws.  Whoopee!

I met a guy about 18 years ago that got a patent on a motorcycle light trip module.

He said that he had many hours of fighting with the patent and legal system on this.  They said that it could be used to switch lights from red to green, but he said no, it only electronically lets the light know that there is something in the intersection that needs the light for them.

He worked at Tank's Inc and I believe was one of the partners of the company.

It was a 12v module that you bolted to the bottom of your bike that worked to let the light know you were there.  I've never seen anything advertised about it since I saw the module in his hand all those years ago.

At the time I didn't think it had a market, but in today's bike age, I think he could sell a pile of them.

 :)
I have read within the past 2 years (?) that both Kansas and Missouri have legalized the "dead red" for motorcycles and bicycles.

TN pass it a few years ago.  Dead red makes sense, wait two cycles then go when safe.

Did that in FL during bike week on US 1, waited three lights, when when safe.  Got a 280 dollar ticket for running a Red light.   :o

Office even said he saw me wait three cycles of the light.  One and only ticket I have had on a motorcycle.

This is the loop buried in the road detection I guess, yes?   Stupid system, and expensive to install. Doesn't happen anywhere else in the world that I'm aware of.  Other than the US (where I've encountered it first hand, failing to change) everywhere else does it by a) a timer or b) IR detection of an approaching vehicle.  It could even be done by a pressure sensor, so why they continue with this in C21 mystifies me!
