Exhaust Tips for 2009 SERG OEM 4" MUFFLERS?
« on: June 18, 2016, 02:05:53 AM »

I miss my Rineharts, and also miss my PM Tech 10 tips that I have on them.

Now that I'm back to the OEM cans, I'm considering trying to drill new holes and put the PM tips on my mufflers. Problem is I don't have the original Rinehart end caps, and can't find a used pair at a reasonable price- I can't sell the Rineharts without tips. I'd rather just sell them with the PM tips on them, as I can get more $$ for them anyhow.

So, I was trying to find some other aftermarket tips that have the same bolt pattern as my OEM tips. For the HD aftermarket tips, they all say not for my 2009- only for the newer CVO's. By them saying that, I assume the bolt pattern changed on the newer models. Why, I don't know.

PM and others have tips for the newer SE mufflers, but again, they don't say that they fill fit mine, and without having a set in hand, I can only assume the bolt pattern is also different.

Does anyone know of any tips that will work on mine?

This is a subject that has baffled most of us over the years, but I was of the opinion that the actual change was made in 2006.  To test my theory, I checked the part numbers of the retention rings that the end caps attach to.  Assuming my online source is correct, that part number has been the same from the 2006 model year up to now.  If that is true, it would appear that an end cap for the later models should bolt up to your 2009 cans.   :nixweiss:

Interesting. If that is so, I too am baffled why HD and the aftermarket would say their tips don't fit the 09's. I should grab a set somehow and test fit them. Don't want to drill holes if I don't have too.

check on the RUSH EXHAUST web site, they have some tips that will fit iinto the cvo cans, you may have to get a lill creative with some hand tools (drill), to make the holes line up,also their baffles will fit in the cvo cans with a bit of work and J&P sells them for about $35. each

Thanks. I have Fullsac cores so Im not looking for baffles. I was hoping to find tips that dont require any modifications. Im thinking tips such as PMs for SE mufflers should work, based on Jerrys post. Cant see why HD would bother to change the bolt hole pattern from 2009 to newer models.

The RUSH ones will fit, take about 5 minutes to drill new holes.

Be careful when looking for tips based on Screamin' Eagle versus CVO.  They are not the same parts, and the mufflers on a CVO are not Screamin' Eagle mufflers.  I thought you were talking earlier about tips that fit late model CVO mufflers, and in that case those should fit an earlier bike like the '09.  I'm sure there are ways to modify some of the tips not truly meant for a CVO, but that's not the same thing as being able to just buy a set and screw them on.
