Infotainment...GPS-POI along your route question
« on: June 30, 2016, 12:51:13 PM »

Was riding on a route on my GPS and decided to look for upcoming gas stations.

So I selected gas stations along my route....straight forward right?

Well the first 10 gas stations it listed were ones I had already passed....you would think it would just list the one along my route in the direction I was going and not the ones in the rear view mirror.

Has anyone else seen this or could I have done something wrong

thanks Cat

Were the 10 closest to you all behind you?  10 "closest" stations is just that; closest?  A little unusual that 10 of the behind you would be closer than any that are still ahead; but, hey, anything is possible.

Also, if I'm running on fumes and I wait that long to ask the magic box where fuel is I actually want to know where is the absolutely closest fuel.  Direction really doesn't matter at that point.

Yes they were all behind me.  I was on I40 just leaving Ashville and was planning for both restroom and fuel stop.  The next exit in the interstate was around 15 miles....so the GPS was looking both forward and backward along my route from my location.

The GPS as the option to look up POI either-
-Near your location
-Along your route
-At route destination

I just thought that along your route should not include behind you.

The along your route does not work well at all.  Coming home from Keystone SD we decide it was time to stop for the night.  Wanted a hotel in my chain.  They came up, way off the route, as in 50 miles north or 30 miles behind or 40 south.  None actually on my route.  Yet I knew there were several in my chain along my route.  I was just hoping for once closer than 70 miles.

I can't say that problem is due to this particular GPS, I've found more than one motel(common chains) that wouldn't
show up on any map or GPS unless you fondled them just right.  I know of one that wouldn't show up on Google, yet when you used street view, there it was.
Stuff changes names, locations and buildings so often any more it's impossible to keep up.

And as the mapping software on the BoomBox is over two years out of date any recent POI will not be listed. Way time for a mapping update from Harley / Naviextras.

Well, the hotel I was thinking of, was in my GPS.  As were two others in my chain.  It just would not show them along my route which went right by them.
