I have a 2009 CVO Road Glide. On the weekend while trying to start it the alarm warning sounded. I grabbed my spare FOB and alarm warning sounded again. I replaced batteries in both FOBs but the bike doesn't recognize them and the alarm goes off and bike can't be started.
Any idea how to correct this? Im now keen on using the override even time I want to ride

Is the bike near anything that could interfere with the signal from the fob? I had a problem once with a 2010 Fat Bob. It would not start and the alarm kept going off. It was near an automatic shutter to an underground car park at a hotel. I pushed it a few yards down the road and all was fine.

did you put the batteries in upside down?

i agree, sometimes it can be rf interference, but seems unlikely if you've never had this problem before.  BUT if it is rf interference, what i do instead of pushing my bike all around looking for a 'safe' spot, is to just set the fob down a little bit away, and use the security pin override.  i find it a lot easier to push a button with my thumbs than a 900 lb bike.

you do know your override code, yes?

Agreed a Fat Bob is easier to push than a Shark lol

Bike is not near anything that would interfere with signal. in the same garage its always been in.

I double check the battery was in correct.

Both FOBs are not working. Something on the bike?

try a different battery in the fob?  it's unusual for both new ones to be bad, but i have seen where a brand new battery was bad right out of the package.

If at home, put both fobs on the seat, cover with aluminum foil over both side of the bike covering the side compartments, if the bike starts, you have rf interference and adjust parking. If it does not not start, turn the bike on, and remove the fuse, if is not making a security connection, your alarm should sound, reinstall the fuse and re-assign your fobs to the bike, procedures vary.

Use the turn signals at start to disable the alarm if the other suggestions don’t work obviously you need to know the 5 digit code then ride bike to dealer and get fobs reassigned

Pull the seat and check the receiver connection, maybe it came partly unplugged or has a broken wire. Should be above the ECM front side of plate 2 inches long X 1/2 X 1/2

I usually have to enter the security code with turn signal switches after an event like this then the bike will start

The batteries have to be put in with the reading downward. Common Error.

Did you enter your security code with the left/right turn signal switches?

I had a similar issue with my 16 and did not matter what i did ( code, new battery, etc) the fob was totally unreliable and the bike had a mind of its own whether it would start or not.
Turned out HD was aware of this issue with fobs and has a plastic spacer that goes inside the fob to ensure a connection with the battery and terminals in the fob.  Never had an issue again with fob.
