Handlebar Question
« on: June 29, 2016, 08:12:02 PM »

I am the proud new owner of a 2016 CVO RGU and I'm real curious how tall the OEM bars are? I really want to know how tall I can go without having to swap the Brake/Clutch lines. I want something somewhat taller, I could get away with the stock ones if they weren't pinned in and I could push them forward...

Can't answer how tall the OEM bars are, but you can unpin them and move them forward. There has been discussion regarding this adjustment but I don't own that model so can't tell you specifically how it's done. Hopefully those that have this model and have done this modification will provide you the information on how it can be done.

I have the 15 SERGU, which has same bars as your 16.  I had the dealer pull the pin when I took delivery in Sept 14.  This got the bars out of my lap and height felt fine.  I however did not like the wrist angle after several hundred miles in a day.

I had run Paul Yaffe 14" Monkey bars on my 12 SERG that I traded for the 15 and have them on the 13 SERK.  Tried to get them for the 15 but after 6 months on order, and hearing next month each time I called I gave up.  I ordered Factory 47 14" bars.

The Factory 47 work fine with Factory cables and wires.  Yaffe 14" bars require longer cables and wires.  Thats cause the Factory 47 are really 13" and the Yaffe are 15.5" measured center of bar base to center of grip.

I really like the factory 47, the finish is better than Yaffe and they are a fatter bar.

I searched for "handlebars", I really did! I did not search for handlebar pin, I got minimal results even searching for handlebars?
Anyway, thanks for the info, I will be pulling the pin, and or replacing the handlebars if that doesn't work for me.
Thanks again

The stock bars sucked for me. . I had those off within 2weeks of owning my rgu. . I went with yaffe 12. .  The wires were plenty long enough. . No problems. . Love the bars. . I would have possibly gone with 14s.  I wasn't sure if that would be too tall. And all new cables would be required.  But I do think they would have been fine as well. . . Lose that stock handlebar.  You'll be happy you did. . Stuart.

No worries, you're welcome. :2vrolijk_21:

I've been known to be the "Mr. Google" of searches/searching when it comes to finding stuff on the site. :D

There is about 2" of movement on the bars even leaving the pin in. I moved mine forward and they were just fine for me. There was even a service bulletin telling the dealers to move the bars forward before they let the bikes off the floor but they just ignored the bulletin.
