Dunlop American Elite Mfg Date
« on: September 25, 2016, 04:01:18 PM »

I purchased a set of Dunlop American Elite tires from Jake Wilson and the front tire is 13 months old from Mfg Date of 3515. The rear is only 5 months old from Mfg Date 1616.  What is considered too old before installation on bike?  Should i send the front back or is it okay to use?

How long does a front tire usually last for you?  Some tire companies will tell you 10 years from date of manufacture is safe, companies like Ford recommend only six years.  If you usually change front tires every five or six years, or less, I wouldn't worry about it already being a year old. If you change fronts once every decade, I'd call up old Jake and ask him to exchange the older tire for a fresh one.
