Then theres those that dont hold up

if you know where they are going to be tuned that is one thing

better to be cautious than not

Paper thin spigots/cylinders are a crap-shoot. Period. Anyone that doubts this or says otherwise, is only
trying to sell you stuff. RUN AWAY!

Tune is super critical on these because the cylinder walls are just plain too damn thin. There are LOTS of
'marginally' tuned bikes out there without this problem. When one of these pieces of crap come in to me I
make them go back to a 103/95 (first or second over) and the problem is gone.

I'm not pointing fingers, but 3 or 4 cubic inches at the expense of super thin cylinders is defective logic.
There's little (if any) gain in the short term and problems in the long run are more likely than not.

Want me to name names? I'm not going to...

110 cylinders should not be bored .060   .030 would be best....  .040 the max that goes out of here

The cylinders from harley might just be fine....they may not be located properly when machined

chuck one up in a lathe off the ID of the cylinder and youll see what im talking about

I'll second that. And then I wonder, how in the h3ll they can they screw that up?

Back in January I pulled my 110 and tore it down to the bare cases. I rebuilt it from the ground up even using S&S flywheels. I have a 117 kit I bought from Harley but debated which way to go. I ended up using a set if SE 4.060 10.5 to 1 pistons and boring the stock cylinders over .060. The motor now has over 22K on it and has not missed a beat or used a drop of oil. IMHO I think that the stock cylinder casting plays a part but I also believe the person doing the boring plays an even bigger part. I let Zippers do all of my machine work on the top end. I have been using them for well over 20 years with no problems.

No question zippers does good work

Then there are the ones that dont hold up reguardless of how well the work itself was done....how good the tune was/is
