Spark plug gap
« on: October 19, 2016, 09:41:42 AM »

Is the spark plug gap set the same as standard on the Screaming Eagle spark plugs 32186-10? Reason I ask is that out of the package the S E plugs are set at 30 in lieu of 38 to 43. Thanks.

Not sure why, but possibly just because it is easier to increase the gap than to decrease.

Run the gap at the same spec as the stock plugs.  The gap is more of a function of the output of the ignition system instead of the plug itself.  If they came out of the box at .030" instead of .040", it just indicates a poor process control issue.  Most plugs for specific applications I've purchased over the decades have come properly gapped.  However, I never trust and always verify.

Some recommend smaller gaps when running very high compression ratio's btw, but that doesn't apply here.
