what components with 117 or 124 build?
« on: November 13, 2016, 02:57:46 PM »

I currently have s&s 106 with woods 777cams and have cylinder issues . I am going to upgrade from crank up. Either 117 or 124 build. I purchased a 55 mm hpi throttle body for previous build and would like to keep it. My questions pertain to the build. Will a 55mm throttle body be ok in a 124 and also what cam upgrade shoud i do. I have Hillside cycles stage 3 heads with dragos 2 into 1 dragula 2, as well as xeraming eagle heavy breather. Im thinking about a tman 625. any other suggestions pertaining to build? This is for a 2013 fatboy

i currently have 777's, after research i dont see them in 124's so much. That being said I dont see 625's in 124 so much either. I'm looking for some direction cam wise. I would like to be in 10.5 compression range, I see alot of 124s around 11-1, is this ok for someone who lides to ride alot. 400 mikes a day on most days. do i ned upgrade on oil pump or any other cam chest items. I have s&s standard lifters and adjustable pushrods. How about compensating sprocket?

Well the S&S 585 is a solid cam for that build if your going main stream, woods 999 would be another . it is going to based on do you want tq or hp..  a basic 585 125 makes 125/135 with ease ( you can get more ) with good heads so in a softail that would be a very nice running set up.  look for a cam in the 45 intake close range and set it with the 10.5 comp ratio. Our 600 cam would be another .. IT really is a wide selection of cams .

What you have would produce great tq it going to be a bit shy on HP but would be a monster down low and into the mid range I used that 777 in a 113 build it made 126/ 132 so no reason it would not work for the 124 with the correct comp ratio .

What compression for 777.  Do u have any projections on torque n hp. When do u think it would strike .  Do I need to upgrade compensator sprocket or any other items

I have no idea how well the heads do or do not flow so no real projections there. But with the cam set at 10.3 -10.5 it should make in the 120+ and 140 range for tq. With the proper pipe no reason it would not hit very early look at a 120ST they build decent hp and have a nice tq curve add a little comp to that same mix and they work even better. the 259 cam would be another that would produce some great tq in a engine that large. I am not a huge fan of the cam but in the right combo it would make for a fun ride.. With a B motor I would not be overly focused on HP myself as the pipe selection will need to be spot on . Like a Rush/ Dragos wrath or what ever he calls his larger pipe. Both would be tops on the list to obtain the power that the engine can produce.

Stock comp is fine if you are running a 14 and newer version   Call the shop be happy to go over it in greater detail

Ok I have no idea what that head is or what it really flows or lets say what it is capable of making for power if we throw out the flow sheet.

Set it up with the comp ratio you want buy a cam that will make produce the  power where you want it and go from there.. good luck .

A Bud that does 30k / year has the HPI 55 on his 124HC, says it works fine...

'Have the T-Man 625s at 10.4 in my 117, comes on early and stays late, 120 ftlbs from 2200-5200, pulls hard to 5900-6k... Quiet. Great manners, no ping, no pms... CCP in the low 190s

IIRC the 625s were originally designed for the B motor...

If I ever go 124, it will have the 625s set at 10.6

You might want to contact Hillside to see how your Heads / TB will play with the additional CI and the 625s??

After more research,  I see tman 662-2 looks good in a 124. Or 662-1 in a 124

See "Harley 117 Kit" thread pg 82, TedK posted 117/T-man 625 chart comp at 9.9:1 !
