Bracket on rear to lower bike
« on: November 13, 2016, 09:11:24 AM »

2017 CVO Limited.  Has anyone installed or know of any brackets that can be installed on the rear shocks to lower my bike about an inch without having to buy new shocks. Are they worth it or is it better to buy a shorter shock.

Check out Drag Specialties, the Big Book. Probably find some. I am NOT recommending this as a good way to lower the bike but they have sold rear lower shock "relocators" for a long time. Personally never saw anyone with them, but I know they are out there. Changes the angle by moving the lower mounting point to the rear which lowers bike a corresponding amount.

What are you trying to accomplish by lowering the bike? Is it a matter of reaching the ground or is this for looks?
There are many older threads about lowering a bike and several areas need to be considered....shorter shocks mean less travel and they will bottom out quicker. Lowering a bike decreases it's ground clearance and it may hit when turning or going over speed-bumps/potholes.
Some riders who are trying to improve their footing in parking lots have added taller soles and heels to their riding boots or had the seat modified by narrowing the front of the seat so their legs can stay closer together and in effect make it easier to reach the ground. Others have gone to the expense of switching to an air ride suspension with on-board compressor so they can lower the bike in parking lots yet raise it to a good ride height for the road.

years ago put a set on an old road king I had. they worked but it did ride a lot rougher and in my opinion didn't handle as well, they were a lot cheaper than shocks etc. forget what brand they were been so long.
