I have seen the same here.
Our Pro Street oem castings will run right with the 110 heads on 110 and smaller motors with higher agregate torque. They flow 300 with a 1.94 valve. Flow numbers are not the whole story.

Very true, dont go by #'s alone.alot of people want 110 heads, when a ported stock casting will actully work better on their build

on my build (117) the heads were ccd and hand ported ,I was under the assumption that if I can get more airflow out of the heads it will equal horsepower. Is this true?

If your talking a hp per cid, yes.any good build with even half decent heaes should do at least that

Maybe, if the heads are the constraint. Too large of a CSA can produce great flow numbers on the bench but with such slow air speed the motors are pigs and suffer from reversion.
There are many causes of builds that don't pan out as they should, sometimes heads. Exhaust, tune, proper compression, throttle body, all come into play. Have to keep in mind the demand vs the available supply of air.
