Noise through air cleaner
« on: December 28, 2016, 05:28:59 PM »

I have a popping noise that seems to be coming from the filter/intake. Bike runs a FP3 tuner/decat stock header/cfrs. The noise is very slight and only at idle. almost call it a burble but moreso a faint pop back through the intake.

I've never run an open filter on a twin cam much less a 110 so not sure what's normal sound and what's not.

I believe that the noise is just a result of the more free flowing system and the pulses of the air flowing. Mine makes the same noise after similar modes. At idle with filter removed I just rested a pencil eraser against throttle blade and noise goes away. I have almost 60,000 mi on and noise has never changed. There is probably one of the guys on here with a more technical answer. I would say rock and roll !!!!

I was up getting the flash for the Nav/Radio done today and asked my buddy(HD service manager) about it. He listened and said it was probably normal but wasn't sure, maybe the butterfly chattering. I guess I could give that a poke and see if it halts it.
