Booster pack
« on: November 06, 2016, 08:30:25 PM »

Anyone know of a booster pack (jump start) that has a Jump Start harness connects directly to the battery like a battery tender. Thanks , Alan

I am pretty sure that Schumacher has one with the Battery Tender connector. They had them on display behind the Ormond dealer at a vendor and it had a bunch of different types of connectors and cables with it.
It is the one they say will start a "diesel pickup" for whatever that is worth. Same units are available on Amazon.

I'm not sure I'd use that skinny little wire on the pigtail to jump a bike. You can run the hot lead to the starter and black lead to a ground so you don't have to remove the seat and access the battery. I have a Microstart brand that I like and take with me on trips.

OBB has the right idea.  Don't try to use the battery tender connector for anything other than a battery tender.  And you don't need to connect directly to the battery, since the hot lead at the starter is a direct connection to the positive battery post.

grc is correct. Same applies to the crazy folks who try to start a car using the cigarette lighter adapter that comes with all the new mini jump starter kits.

Also, the battery tender lead has a small (like 2 amp) fuse in it, so it'll blow if you try to use it for jump start or heated gear unless you re-fuse it.

I also have a microstart and made up a battery tender type male and female plug off of the battery and one for my microstart  thinking that if I had a battery failure or alternator that I might be able to limp into town running off of the microstart. I also kept the alligator ends for normal jump starting.
