Dan, I think that you will be able to find a B pre '03 with the Timken quite easily. Rather than split the case to "address" a Moco crank, just get an S&S #320-0355, 4 3/8" stroker that doesn't need to be "addressed". Then just bore your cylinders for 103" or get a 110" "drop in kit, or the old style 110" that nobody seems to want anymore. While you have the cases split, get the inner cam bearing bored to fit torrington #168, then with an '07 & up cam plate, people seem to be throwing those away too, you can use any cam made for '07 & up. Much better selection of cams. ;D

Thanks everyone.

There are certainly plenty of options available to me.

I'm not looking to actually hot rod the motor, but for my purpose the added cubes would give me some additional low end torque.  I don't plan on running a large carb, but may go with a lower rpm torque cam.

I've seen quite a few '02's or older with some fairly low miles, 30k or less.  If I bought one of those, I'd probably pull the cam chest cover and check out the tensioner, but it would get used at first pretty much stock.

With the 6 speed Miata, that's fairly close ratio, I think I can have some fun shifting gears and cruising without putting down a foot.  I doubt that many will have seen a V-twin reverse trike, so unless I meet up with a Morgan Three Wheeler, I'll be the only one around these parts in one.  By the way, the S&S Wedge motor just doesn't sound right to me.  Nothing like a 45 degree E-twin to lull you to sleep..... but not while driving.

Here's one of the M3W reviewers.  Take a look, they're loads of fun.  They claim the next best thing to actually flying.  But not many of the owners are 2-wheel guys.

Enjoy.

Thanks again for the suggestions guys.

Hey y'all, I hate to jump in and really seem stupid to the subject level you guys are on here , but I am stupid to it so here it is. My 03 FXSTD-SE CVO has the 95B motor if I understand correctly, does it have this left side Timken issue I'm hearing you guys talking bout?

No, '02 was the last year for a production Timken left side bearing.

Because of what I'm doing with my "B" motor project, I wanted to make sure I had the best available left side bearing.

Most here will say for the stock, or mildly warmed over 110" bike motor, the now standard bearings will work good enough.  If you're investing in a stroker crank or having crank work done, having the Timken upgrade is a good choice for a bit more added insurance.

Okay then, Thanks Dan. Then my 03 95"B motor without the Timken left side bearing is pretty much OK as it's the bigger 110" that are prone to failure, if I understand correctly.
