Problem with Key Fob ?
« on: August 16, 2014, 09:44:02 PM »

I have 08 CVO UC, and there is a poblem with the key fob, I think. I have replaced batteries in both fobs and neither one will unlock the bags or the trunk. I can unlock the trunk with the dash button so I really cant tell where the issue lies.

Anyone have any suggestions or ideas of where to stat toubleshooting?

Many, including myself, have fob troubles. I've changed the batteries as well to no avail. I believe it is the receiver on the bike that is the weak link. I have to position my fob very close to the right side of the bike, just ahead of the tour pack and wave it around while pressing the button to be able to unlock it. Locking doesn't seem to be so sensitive but the unlocking is more touchy.

Mine will not lock or unlock the trunk and every now and then my alarm will go off even with the key there.  I then have to lock/unlock several times and then it will be fine.  I've replaced the batteries in all 4 remotes, same problem.. 10 FLHTCUSE5

Maybe late to the party
But
Mine will always work if I have the fob up close to the dash, right above the lock, seems like the further away from the dash the worst it gets

Thought I would wake up this old thread instead of starting a new one.

On my 15 SG, about half the time I have to wave my fob a couple of time before it wakes the bike up.

Changed the batteries a couple of times with no joy and reacts the same way with both fobs. Been this way for at least a year.

Has anyone had this same problem and fixed it? If so how?

Thanks

Interesting. I changed my battery last week, after moving everything around to gain access then putting it back together I placed the antenna up on the side of the frame beside the battery. It appeared to have provisions for mounting on a tab on top of the battery but it was down in front of the battery where I think it may have been shielded requiring me to wave my fob around near the side panels to activate. Saturday I noticed the remote worked much better and from a greater distance.

Edited to clarify, it was the main 12V battery I was changing, not the fob battery.
