Bike Wont start - says fork locked, but it's not!
« on: July 09, 2017, 09:33:18 AM »

went to leave yesterday morning

bike started fine

backed it out of garage with the handlebars cocked left,  rolled forward, then backward once to get my angle to turn around, when i turned the bars all the way to the right, the bike died,  went to restart and it wouldn't start, says fork locked, but it's  not locked

i turn the the actual fork lock switch, and it doesn't say they are locked, but still won't start,

if i put the switch in the middle, fork lock goes away, but still won't start, turn the switch all the way to the unlock, and it says locked again,   the check engine light is on and the red dot is on,

as i move the handlebars back and forth, the red light will go off and back on  and the fork lock will go away and come back on,  but it still won't start, even when says off,  any ideas?

sounds like the wires rubbed and shorted. (in the switch mechanism itself) several threads on this problem on the 11.5s. could have carried over on the early 12 models. some have had the switch replaced multiple times.  grabbing at straws on this one. could the fob battery be dead.do search on this site. hope this helps!

What bike are you talking about?  It always helps to know stuff like that.

I assume this is a 17 M8 model?
