Chamberlain Garage Door Opener
« on: July 27, 2017, 03:05:57 PM »

I know everyone is tired of the HD garage door opener topic, but I just bought a new Chamberlain HD 210 garage door opener. Installed it last night, everything works as it should except the HD remote opener won't work. All signals and LEDs are correct, but flip the high/low beam switch on the bike and the Chamberlain unit just clicks and nothing happens. Chamberlain claims you can no longer connect directly to their units as it has to go through a logic system they have now days. Stated flatly a direct connection would not work at the opener, or at the wall switch.

Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there a way around it?

Thanks in advance.......

Chamberlain has an app you can run on your phone to open the door. I did that when I got my Chamberlain. And there's no HD gremlins in it, so it actually works.

It's been a problem for a few years.  Find a spare remote already programmed to the opener and solder the HD opener lead to the switch connectors inside.  Use a jumper to figure out which two the lead should be attached to.  Don't forget to change the battery in the spare remote every year or two.

If you don't want to solder search ebay as there is someone selling a plug/play solution there.

Your chamberlain gdo uses newer technology, harley uses the old and are not compatible.  You can upgrade the hd receiver or purchase an updated version.

A very simple and no cost fix is possible, if you know how to solder connections on circuit boards.  If you wire the Harley receiver directly to the opener, it won't work.  If you wire the Harley receiver to the two posts on the wall control where the wires to the opener attach, that also won't work.  You need to solder the Harley receiver wires to the pins on the circuit board for the actual switch (the one that is activated by the open/close button on the wall control).  That works, because it mimics what happens when you push the wall open/close button.

Creative Solutions .... I've purchased their units and they work as advertised, reasonably priced, clean and simple.

BTW - Got the Creative Access Solutions unit that plugs directly into the back of the HD unit and everything works great, Also can plug this in anywhere in the garage....doesn't have to be near the garage door opener. Opens the garage door from the street which is about 400 feet from the garage.
