Power vision code question Ecm:p1 intermittent rear efi
« on: December 15, 2018, 07:06:14 PM »

I have a 2003 Road glide fuel injected. I have a 103 long block  with se 257 cams thundermax 50mm throttle body S&S power-tune duels. I installed a power vision  with auto tune pro because my dealer couldn't get the motor to smooth out between 1800 and 2500 rpm and right at 3000 rpm's.

So I started tuning runs yesterday and have already seen improvements. I did two runs yesterday and three today.  The dealer left me with a gas mileage of 29 mpg and after running the power-vision it runs much smoother and I already have seen MPG move up to 37.

But today engine light came on. the power vision read the code Ecm:p1 intermittent rear efi.

Does anyone know what it means? I appreciative any input you may have.
Thank you

On 03 models it give jiberish. Early models it just Lets you know there is an error but not what it is. You have to use a code reader or the one built into the powervision.  I cleared the code but it did say it tripped 4 times
Thanks

Hard to read the complete code in that photo, but I'm guessing it is P1358.  It involves the secondary circuit of the ignition coil for the rear cylinder being intermittent.  That could mean you have a misfire on that cylinder, or it could just mean you have an intermittent loss of continuity in the circuit.  Question #1:  Are you running stock plugs and wires, or aftermarket?  If aftermarket, the circuit resistance could be affected enough to cause a false code (assuming the engine really isn't misfiring), so you may want to try changing back to stock parts.  If stock, check the plug wire connections at both ends.  Something as simple as a loose or corroded connection can trigger these codes. You can also measure the actual resistance of the plug wires and compare to factory specs.  I don't have a 2003 manual, but for reference the spec for my 2005 is 4975 - 11960 ohms for a 20 inch long plug wire.

15 year old bike with work done sometime later.  How old are the wires?  Age and the heat cycles and environmentals impact wires even if they don't get a lot of miles.
