110 Motor Issue
« on: September 06, 2007, 06:05:51 PM »

I have a friend that has a 07 110 Ultra. The oil pump blew at 4500 miles, and H/D replaced the engine. Now the new one is knocking with only 2500 miles on it. Has anyone heard of a lower end defect/problem with the 110's.

#1 - flywheels shifting
#2 - have the dealer do a pinion shaft run out check on it
#3 - if you had power and slowly loose it (without any signs of knocking) have the dealer pull the case bottom plug (never do this yourself) and check for any oil draining out - there should never be any that runs out - if it does you have an oil pump o'ring that has moved and allowed oil to seep into the cases making the power loss as the flywheels pass through it.
#4 - if 1 & 2 are out of specs's - new engine replacement - HD will not let the dealers screw with it.
only way to make things better is to have old chit break and see the flaws and weak spots in em. Mechanical/man made - chit can break when ever it feels like it.
