Hi folks, I was hoping to get your opinions in relation to a 2014 Deluxe as the reviews seem quite mixed. I presently have a '15 CVO SG and love it for touring, especially with the 110, however, it isn't all that practical for city riding/cruising.
As such, I'm considering looking at a second bike and like the idea of either a 2014 Deluxe, or a brand new Softail Slim S which as you would know also has the 110.
I'm looking at a used 2014 CVO Deluxe with only 700 miles on it in pristine condition for the same price as a new Slim S. My inclination is to go for the CVO Deluxe over the Slim S, but I'm just a little worried about some of the reviews and seeming low interest in them.
I'd be really interested in your comments. By the way, I'm a larger guy, 240 pounds, 5'11" (I like beer too much). Thanks in advance.

I went from 2011 SG to the deluxe. sorry I did it. Deluxe is to small for any all day riding. No comfort.

Thanks Older Guy .... But I'm thinking about the Deluxe as a second bike for city use, and I'll keep the SG for touring. Does the Deluxe work for you for around town use?

Love the CVO Deluxe, sounds like a good deal.

Make sure you sit on the CVO Deluxe.  I ride a CVO Road King... my wife has the CVO Deluxe.  I'm 6'3", she's 5'2".  The CVO Deluxe is designed for a smaller rider.  It's lowered (and she complains about how frequently she scrapes), has reduced reach bars, and a smaller diameter grip.  Can I ride the CVO Deluxe?  Sure... Am I comfortable?  Somewhat.

Bottom line:  Sit on it... and know going in that it's designed for those 5'6" and under.

I'm doing some more research and HD have a product "Softail Comfort Flex Rear Shocks" which claim to raise the seat and bike by 1". Apparently you lose the "slammed look"' but ride preformance is improved.
Anyone familiar with this product - link below.

I came from a 2004  1200C Sportster so this is a very large bike for me yet easier to ride then the Sportster. I rented a Ultra classic for a week and at 69 yrs. old , 5' 9" , 170 lbs. it was just to much bike to ride comfortably with 2 people. At 782 lbs running weight this is no lightweight but still 114 lbs. lighter then a ultra and 3" lower seat height that sold me. I only ride about 4000 miles a year and no long distance cruises so this is one sweet ride and very comfortable. By the way this 2014 deluxe is a show stopper no matter where I park and regardless how many other bikes there are mine seems to get all the attention, its a keeper.

I see this topic is old.  But, I am a new owner of a 2014 CVO deluxe.  I am curious to find out what exhausts any of you are running; if you even own the cvo?

I love my -14 FLSTNSE with 40K miles on the clock. The only problems I’ve had has been with the cruise control sensor, but it’s replaced and is now working fine. Engine wise it’s original and I’ve never seen any point in tuning it. I like a reliable trouble free machine, and have no need for race prestanda.

What a beautiful bike!  Thank you for responding.  Mine is still completely stock.  But I am considering replacing the mufflers.  I am in no hurry.

I’ve rode both bikes and my option is the soft tail is much harder to maneuver during slow speeds.

However! it easier to duckwalk around a parking lot.

So depending on how you prefer slow maneuvers. Duckwaik use softail….if your a friction zone slow maneuver guy than stay with SG.

Hi Cat Eye, I do not agree with you in this matter. I’ve had and ridden both Road King and Street Glide extensively (V-Rod and Sportster for a short period) and handles both my earlier FLSTN and my current FLSTNSE easier than the touring bikes.  No duckwalk for me
