Wow - you guys are making me feel like some type of speeder...

I stay in the lower gears (as 24k does seem to be sweet for the motor) but when on the highway that 6th gear is just great!!!

Yea - it was a bit of money but since I won't be buying a new bike any time soon (as long as it lasts) it will be money well spent...

No doubt if I had it I'd use it, and if I can ever run up on a "deal", will probably consider doing the change... :2vrolijk_21:

Anyone run the OD6?  I've heard many guys running the DD6 but none using the overdrive model.

I did the DD6 install myself and would definitely do it again on a non 6 speed bike. Would I change out the HD6 in favor of a DD6, tempting. I paid some where around $1950 TMD for the gear set and it was worth it. Not for fuel savings but rather for the less abuse it places on my bike. Keep in mind I have an 01 which was geared real low like a wheelie bike. On the highway this bike was screaming "6 speed".

The OD6 would be like running a SE6. With the invent of the DD6 it makes the OD6 so "yesterday" (as my 11 year old daughter would say). ;D

I know I've posted on this thread before, but I just wanted to add that while I think Hogasm probably is right about Baker Maintenance issues, I really like the DD6 in Elvis. I can't really explain how it's different than the H-D 6 in LD, but it just seems to have a lot better gear ratios or something. E runs really sweet even though it's not a high output bike.

B B..a couple of the guys here for the races with 07's were talking about 1st gear feeling a little taller than the 5 speeds.  You'd think they would have left 1st alone, but apparently they did not.

It is somewhat handy, but in full sun it washes out.

After the SERT, duals, etc. 6th was much more usable.  Stock set up it was about worthless unless going 70 mph+.  Now its ok at 60-65 mph+ depending on the load on the bike, etc.  Someone else commented on this, but the bike is happier at 2400 rpms + or so in the higher gears.

After awhile you learn how to tilt your head just so and the shade you create makes it readable. It's probably in the H-D designers notes on how to do it, but they forgot to put it in the owner's manual  :D
