I would need to be totally convinced that an Indian motorcycle, regardless of who made it, would be worthy of consideration.  I have a 2001 Indian Scout that I purchased new.  I am glad I have other bikes to ride other than the Indian or I would likely have spent more time walking than riding.  I didn't do my homework when I made the purchase but salvaged it by turning it into a project bike.  I must admit the theme and looks of the bike are appealing to me but that is about it. For the most part the bikes were made from 2nd rate components and marketed / sold on their appearance.  There were so many warranty issues with the bikes that it was hard to keep up with them. If you were lucky Indian Motorcycle were responsive by providing marginally better replacement products or bandaid fixes.  If you were unlucky they did nothing.  They provided very little to no service & maintenance information until close to the end and very little dealer support.  They didn't respect thier customers, the dealers, thier employees or thier shareholders.  In short I believe they had no business being in business.  IMO none of the Indian bikes made even come close to the H/D products in quality, reliability, support, and even owners groups. (Can you tell I'm just a little pissed.)

If the new owners are smart they will give it some time for old wounds to heal before they approach the market place again.

In any case like I said I have salvaged my purchase through the gratification I get seeing the bike go through it's transformations as a project / theme bike.  I have attached some images of the bike before the current tear down & rebuild.  I expect the bike to finally be finished by end of January and have some really cool artists from all over North America working on portions of it.  I have also replaced or are replacing almost all of the stock components on the bike with custom one-of or higher grade components so that I can ride the thing with confidence when its done.

Well if it's a Porsche, why isn't the motor in the back???? [smiley=laugh.gif]

Obviously the whole two-wheel thing confused them.  At least they didn't get so confused that someone tried to hang a kick start on a Carrera.

O'Fender & JCZ,
You're right, the Sputhe engine design does remarkably resemble the Indian Powerplus 100 (or vice versa) but, if they are in fact one and the same, neither party fessed up to it. Sputhe's website has a lot of interesting pictures and stuff in it, but no mention of Indian anywhere that I saw anyway, and you would think it would IF it were true.

The latest bulletin dated 12/16/04 from the new Indian owner, Stellican, on their  http://www.indianmotorcycle.com/  website sounds pretty promising to me.  [smiley=1syellow1.gif]

Once again, I for one hope they DO make it successfully this time around, but it's goona be a tough, uphill battle...should be interesting to watch develop.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Darrellh,
Nice yellow Indian pics...I trust you're on a list somewhere for a new YELLOW SEEG2 to go with it??  It would be interesting to see a pic of those two side x side.....wow, break out those wayfarer sunglasses for sure!!!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
