I bought a pair of HD'a utility lights to be placed inside my saddlebags and discovered them to be a huge disappointment as they do not put out a lot of light.

What have you done?  I would like to see perhaps an LED solution (battery/self powered).

I am contemplating putting the red light pods on the SERK and maybe a couple inside the bags too.  But would like a nice battery powered white light.

90270-99?  If so that's always looked very underwhelming to me too.  I use and have been pleased with 54331-04.  The nice white LEDs in that package shine down in to the saddlebags from a position mounted on the bottom of the tour pak though.  So with a SERK you appear to be well and truly screwed for other options (from HD).
