Cruise not releasing properly....Help!!
« on: June 08, 2007, 08:21:33 PM »

My'06 SEUC cruise  wouldn't release when I tapped the front brake and it wouldn't hold speed. I manually got it to release by twisting the throttle, it felt like there was a catch in the cable or something. Took it to dealer, tech said I had a bad cable ,not the throttle cable I guess it's another cable that makes the cruise work??? Anyway he replaced the cable  now the cruise works, holds speed  except it still won't release when I tap the front brake,(the light changes to red from green  but it  still has the catch in the cable. The catch only happens when I'm using the cruise. It's seems to release when I manually roll off the throttle but it still has that catch in it>>> IDEAS????? Assistance would be appreciated. It's  a warranty issue but I'd rather not take it back and leave it if I don't have to>>>> THANKS ! Greg

P.S. The answer could be worth some cold beers in Hot Springs>>>>>>

On the idle cable at the front of the gas tank on the right side there is a plastic cylinder with two wires connected to it, This is what holds the cable . Be sure its not bound up. The Cruise control module has a cable that connects to the throttle body as well.

The “catch” that you feel is the cruise switch in the idle cable making contact, disengaging the cruise control which releases the tension on the idle cable. To feel resistance then a release when closing the throttle with the cruise engaged is normal.

Your issue with the cruise not releasing when you apply the front brake is an issue that deserves some attention. If the cruise malfunctions consistently in this manner, it will not be difficult to diagnose. IMHO you should take it back to the Dealer.

You can test the inputs:
Turn on cruise switch.
While holding crusie set button on turn on Ignition switch, light should turn green.
Release and move to resume should go from red to green.
Apply front brake and light should go from red to green.
Roll throttle off should change from red to green.
Apply rear brake and light should go red to green.
