I had three riders in my Ride Like A Pro class today. I would have had four, but one of them picked up the stomach flu last night and had to reschedule. The three riders, Kimberly W., Jim V., and Garry B. all did very well. Here are some pictures from the class. Pay particular attention to the head turns and leans. These photos were taken early on in the day when the skills were still fresh to them. By the end of class, they were turning tighter, and leaning over more.

I like this one of Kimberly, because it shows the proper posture and position. Her right heel is planted firmly on the floorboard, with the ball of her foot dragging the rear brake. Her throttle hand is in the perfect “wrist down, knuckles up”, and her chin is over her left shoulder looking where she wants to go.

Jim V. picked up the “Full lock U-Turn from a stop sign” quickly. The way he turns his bike around from a dead stop in such a small space is quite impressive. Garry B. got the snapping head turn down early on. His second time through the offset looked like he had been doing it all his life. Like a lot of riders, Kimberly was initially reserved and cautious. Even though she is a veteran rider with all very good skills, and abilities she struggled for a bit early on, Then I told her to ride with some “controlled aggression”, and “attack” the exercises. When she did it came together for her. She has phenomenal braking skills. By the end of the class just about everyone including me were pretty tuckered out. My hat is off to Garry, who came all the way to LA, from San Diego, took the course, and then road back home.
