Lowering 2010 SEUC with 2010 SESG Shocks
« on: January 28, 2010, 07:25:22 PM »

My local dealer's parts manager has returned from the winter meeting with the new parts offerings from MoCo. We met to discuss details of the modifications going into my 2010 SEUC. For the 1” lowering I would like, he is suggesting  replacing the stock SEUC shocks with “Premium Ride Hand Adjustable Low Touring Shocks”. This is the product name for the STOCK 2010 SESG shocks currently on all 2010 SESG‘s, now being offered as an option on all appropriate touring bikes. So I guess the question is how do you 2010 SESG riders like the rear suspension? If the answers are positive, I will use them for lowering. Thanks, Ed

Let me ask this another way. Since installing the same shocks as are on the current 2010 SESG's should produce an identical ride, are current 2010 SESG owners happy with the production shocks and ride? Thanks folks, important decision here and your opinions are highly valued. Ed

Ed,

Great question here to ask, You may want to post this in Suspension, or SESG section for better accurate response rate.  :2vrolijk_21:

No I won't. I did find some discussion of the SESG handling on a search and it looks like these shocks have been pretty well received. Nice if they provide a dual benefit in ride quality and lowering. Hey Fired00d; Know why firemen have bigger balls than policemen? ANS: They sell more tickets  :huepfenlol2:

Hi Ed,

I don't own an SESG, so I can't comment on how they ride with the lowered suspension.  My '05 SEEG came stock just like the SG's with a lowered back end and it rides great!

However, when I took delivery of my '08 SEUC I had the lowered shocks installed along with the Progressive Springs in the front installed and love the bike a whole lot more.

Great ride & handling... At 5'8" I wouldn't even think of owning a touring bike without lowering the front & rear.

Good luck with your project.

i have a 2009 SEUC and used the air shocks from a 2009 SERG. they were exactly 1" shorter and i could still run the same air pressure. 90% of the time, I'm riding two up and have no complaints. you might want to check them out

I switched to 11,5" Progressive's on my 2009 SEUC. They are 1,5" lower than stock. The reason was to bring the seat height down for more control at very low speeds and when parking the bike. Did help very much.

Ride safely,
Louis

Installed sesg low profile shocks on my 2010 seuc today. Rode 130 miles and love them. 4 clicks out solo no bottoming out. Huge improvement over air shocks. No bucking and lower stance really nice. The 13" stock airs were to high and stiff. Tried low profile airs and were worse by far. So far so good. Will do some 2up this weekend and post results. Don't know why or how they work and don't care. They are the best shocks I have ever had and I'm keeping them.

Have the administrator move this to the SESG forum. I think you'll find almost everyone is happy with the shocks on the '10 SESG. I certainly am happy with mine.
I am unsure if you'll get a full 1" drop in rear height. A lot of the lower seat height comes from the stock (and universally hated) seat...
