Garmin City Navigator 2008 - Now Available
« on: August 15, 2007, 10:43:28 AM »

The update DVD for Garmin City Navigator is now available. The DVDs are free, but the unlock is $75. They are available on the Mapsource page.

This is NOT the version for Zumo units, but is the one for us with the 2610s.

Thanks for the info Chief!  :2vrolijk_21:

I had to double check for the software on my Garmin StreetPilot 2720 and I have City Navigator NT system preloaded on it.
Those of you with an NT software will probably need this version for 2008 update:

It is my understanding that the updates for your GPS may not be worth getting on a yearly basis. You may want to look see what are the updates (location) to see if they will be beneficial to were you are or planning to travel. I personally don't think I'll update on a yearly basis, more like every other year. :nixweiss:

I agree totally. I'm on V6, skipped V7 and V8. I was waiting for V9, but now its 2008. This update should be my last one for the 2610. I'm waiting for the new Zumo 650/750 or 850. You know, the one with color radar.  ;D

Digital Color Radar?  Old News.  Garmin - Available this season, along with the new auto/marine/bike version. The newer one has an HUD projection option, uses tiny laser projector, but you must buy the windshield for the display, has glass inserts for optical clarity.  Will have perfect fit for baggers. Will display full GPS, user adjustable opacity, can also display Tach/RPM/ Radio etc. User settable.  Don't know the model nomenclature or price yet however.  As far as updates, Garmin now has sat downloads via annual subscription, like DirecTV, software, not firmware.

Bose has also introduced bike friendly 'pinpoint speakers'. These speakers are able to create an area of sound about 12" in diameter.  Outside the perimeter, music/phone/etc is barely audible, but while inside this area, you are immersed in the full fidelity experience Bose is known for.

Harley puts your kickstand down.  How many times have we stopped our bikes, shut off the engine, and got off, forgetting to put down the kickstand.  Hmm, ok a few of us anyway.  Harley introduces the SmartStop, automatic K-Stand extender.  Available in new catalog.

Glare is introducing new chemical compound this fall for virtually all vehicles, planes and boats.  Although Gov't officials have tried to block them, they have successfully developed a finish that is permanent, and so glossy and non-porous, that NOTHING can stick. Not dirt, dust, bugs or anything at all. Even stickers fail to adhere. Viewed under an electron microscope, the compound was compared to existing polymers, waxes, whatever, and in comparison, it was like looking at a still pond versus the himilayas.  When released, officials are concerned that so many products will become obsolete that it would interfere at a world trading level.  Capital Hill refused to comment, Glare is keeping very quiet, although the facility has now hired armed private security to maintain a modicum of peace.

OK, I would have thought SOMEBODY would have called me on this banter, but NO, it has been very quiet around here.   I am going to take my toys and go home...

I always knew I was not getting the same quality of  <ahem>  shall we say prescriptive substances as others were getting elsewhere, way back when.

Hope Bose develops those speakers for underwater, so when I scuba I could listen to tunes with annoying any fish who might swim by.........
