Let me throw this in. Now you can run the oil and head temperature up with the 10 percent ethanol added to the 93 octane gas.

Does wonders for valves and rods. I just ran into that experience.

I don't know, but I think 260 is high, like guys have been saying if the oil in your tank is 260 imagine the temp of the smaller amount of oil is in your motor, and the temp of the heads and moving parts too!    :confused5:

Hey Troy, good info.......but, how does the EITMS know if you're 'moving'?

I'm not certain, but I'd think it reads it from the speedo.  The recording mode of SERT captures it, so I'm guessing that the Delphi software (firmware) can access it in the same fashion.

As good as all this sounds, though, I wouldn't really want to test it out;)

From the signal it gets from either the ECU or the VSS (vehicle speed sensor).

Do you mean you are going to intentionally put your machine into heat management mode?  To the point that it stops running?  Brother, I'm not so sure I could do that.  I get the willies when my oil temp gets up to 240 in traffic.  That means head temps are about 310.  I get all sorts of nasty thoughts flowing through my mind at that point...........and all I can do is pray that traffic starts moving faster.  Best to ya, Bro, and please let us know how it works out. :2vrolijk_21:

The materials used in the head, and your pistons will not become damaged from heat unless the combustion chamber temps go above 450*, and I am quite sure your engine would be giving you some indication (pinging) of excessive heat long before that. Also keep in mind that all it takes is one serious over heating episode to heat the rings to the point where they will lose the temper in the metal and also their ability to seal the piston in the cyl because they have no "spring" left in them.....a serious overheating could also glaze the cylinder walls to where the rings will not seat correctly any longer.

That's a bit high.....I've checked my dipstick in boiling water...dead on the money. Oil checks in stop and go range 230 - 245.......highway   215 - 220.  And that's in Florida 90 degree weather ! I'm also running Rinehardts Tru Dual w/ BAK...much cooler operation.  Good luck !
