New Exhaust
« on: July 05, 2007, 10:04:13 AM »

I just put a set of Vance and Hines Ovals mufflers on the stock head pipes yesterday and boy do I like it. I can't believe I waited a year and half to do it. I like everything about it. Its only a touch louder at 70 to 75 mph and I can hear the radio just as well, but it's got a pretty goood bark when you get into it. I like the extra noise as I am throttling through the twisties, it just seems like it gives me a better feel for what the bike is doing. I like the look of the stock mufflers and tips, but these look great also. I'll post a pic when I get cleaned up again. The weather was great here in SW MO yesterday on the 4th, good day for a ride and finished up with several :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink:.

I thought my 06 SEUC pipes would be fine when I rode with them at first, but after the ride to Cripple Creek and not being able to hear my bike when riding with others, it became obvious I needed to get a bit more volume.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the improved perfomance and engine note as you go through the gears and ride the winding roads. :2vrolijk_21:

It does seem to run a little stronger, I'm not sure if it really does, or if it just sounds like it.  Oh, and no popping on decel, which is nice.

Hobo, you are correct in believing that the Vance & Hines Ovals feel stronger than the stock fishtails because the V&H Ovals are designed to move more exhaust than the Screamin Eagle fishtails.  If you took the fishtail end caps off the stock mufflers and put one of Harley's other end caps on you would notice and improvement.  I first went went with the slash cuts.

Mine had a set of the ovals on it. Also had  the factory headers, when I changed them out it was much much better.

At the time mine have the D&D 2 into 1 with the Quiet Bafflers and the Ghost Pipe on the left.  I am going to switch my 08 factory headers with D&D slip-on for the 2 into 1.  Will lose power on the Road Glide (dyno'ed at 109) but will gain power in the 110 engine on the CUSE3.

Hey hafbad0-  How did you get 109hp?  I have an 01 SERG and would like to do some work to the motor.  I ordered a SuperTrapp 2:1 and am thinking about a gear drive cam (no head work) since my cam chain tensioners have 25k on them.  I would like to stay with the 95" configuration.  Any cam suggestions?  Thanks  Robert

Robert, I spent about $4000 getting there.  RevPerf. 98" Millennium Big Bore Kit; RevPerf 1.9 Heads with spring for a high lift cam; Woods TX6hg cam; S&S Gear Drive(Roller Rockers, Adj. Pushrods, Lifters); Power Commander III, HorsePowerInc. 51mm Throttle Body, Manifold, & A/C; D&D 2 into 1 Pipes, and the stock 3.36 gears.  The bike has been detuned with the Zippers's Mirella Conversion (Thundermax & Autotuner) Kit that included a 50 mm Throttle Body.  But let me tell you that it is still fast and a lot of fun to ride.  Have not been dyno'ed since the conversion. Hope this helps.  (See CVO Market - Sale).
