In August the wife and I will be riding our 07 SEUC out to Bristol for a race and then on to the coast for a couple nights on the ocean. Last year we did a simular trip and spent a couple nights on Myrtle Beach.

Does anyone have some suggested sights we should check out. We loved riding through the smokies last year and will probably do some of that again. Also any suggestions on a nice beach with ocean side rooms?

This trip will be a two week trip. Hoping for good weather.

Sorry looking at the east coast beaches.  Been looking at Virgina beach area?  Don't know much about the area. Would like to stay in a beach front hotel, with shops and restrants on the beach front also.

Any other stops that you consider neat attractions would be interesting also. Like biker bars, bike shops, food places, old landmarks.... stuff like that.

Check with TCnBham.  He's the "official"  trip planner.   :2vrolijk_21:   We just returned from a 9 day trip from Alabama to West Virginia back through VA, NC, TN, GA.   Check out Terry's thread under Pictures:  TC and Diva's Vacation.

Have you been to Bristol during the races?  My sister lives close to Bristol, and it's a zoo in the area during the race season.

Hope y'all have a wonderful trip.  Take lots of pictures and be sure to post them when you return.

Happy and Safe Trails

I lived in the Virginia Beach area for many years and now live in NC. Depending on what your looking for Virginia Beach or the Outer Banks of NC are very nice. VB is more the typical east coast beach with a "strip" of hotels, t-shirt shops etc.  On the other hand the outer banks of NC can be less crowed with fewer hotels but prettier beaches. As a matter of fact Ocracoke beach in the outer banks was just listed in Forbes magazine (I think that was the mag) as the best beach in the country. Beating out all Florida and Hawaii beaches.  The bottom line both areas are nice and only a few hours away from each other so you might consider both.

Have fun

Crunch, are you looking at SC or just anywhere along the coast? You could do: Charleston, Hilton Head, Savannah, Tybee Island. Great beachfront places at all those stops and each is a days ride. Lots of historical sites along the way. Let me know.

Hi crunch29,

If you do decide to come to the Virginia Beach area feel free to let me know.I will gladly show you around the area.
You may get some idea of the area from the official website :
http://www.vbfun.com/visitors/directions.asp

The hotel rates do vary due to time of year and they have every type of hotel from a fleabag on up to a 5 star hotels. The resort strip itself is very conjested in the summer but there are outlying hotels as well. and a variety of back roads not too far away. You could take day trips from there to the Outer banks of North Carolina and there is a lot of history in the area from the first settlement in North America in 1607, Revolutionary War, Civil War and modern military stuff too. day trips also can take you to Williamsburg,Jamestown and Yorktown. For family fun you have Bush Gardens in Williamsburg.
The 17 mile ride across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel from Virginia Beach to the Eastern Shore is an interesting ride as well.
Biker friendly bars would include Boneshakers in Virginia Beach on General Booth Blvd. and Knuckleheads on Witchduck Rd. right beside SouthSide Harley.

If you get down as far south as Asheville, NC, a stop at Biltmore is worthwhile.  Catching some of the Blue Ridge Parkway or Skyline Drive would be nice too.

Take care.

We'll and home, we rode to bristol tenn.  Watched the nascar races, had a goodtime.  Left on Sunday, rode up into Virginia and then headed home. Rode 3200 miles. Bike ran great, no issues. Averaged 35- 40 mpg.  The mountain area int eh east coast is a nice ride.  Southdakota seams pretty boring next to that partof the country. Did ride three days in rain...

All in all was a nice trip.
