okay.....nothing to hide here....47 (JUST TURNED :D).  Way too young for full geezer glide status.

Yeah, 'er 'uh, that's what I say, I'm 56 looking at 57 in March.  Still got a 20 year old mind, though.  My head always wants it, but my butt feels like I just had it.  Can you relate?  Please advise.    Later--HUBBARD

After riding with them on for a week I could not stand the heat any more, I took them of today. Even my wife could tell the difference. I think they will stay off.

Restricts speed, enhances wobble, looks like crap, and makes for poor ventilation.  I've always removed them before I ever put any of my Ultra's on the road.  Of course, my opinion is based on running WFO @ 120+MPH.  There endeth the lesson.  Later--HUBBARD

I'll never be able to run with the two H's (Hoist and Hubbard).  They'd be taking off from the fuel stop while I was just pulling in.    ::)
I leave  my lowers on all year.

Hub's holding tank aint the best and and he likes to stretch out the ole bones often , but beware of the tobaccy over the side.  :huepfenlol2:

Lower Ferrings cause Lower Powwer, take them off in hot weather. The lowers on the Ultras create a hotter, stagnant air just behind them, which has been noted to be as much as 20 degrees hotter at the intake. This robs power when it is hot. The lower acts as a wing, and creates a low pressure area behind the lower, exactly where you do not want it. If you still have yur lowers on, while riding, place your hand near the intake cover. No breeze at all, so you lose. Not to mention the higher temp, and lack of ventilation going over the cylinders.  Took me a while to do it, but the breeze when 100 & 90% humid was a relief for sure.

Is anyone riding with there lower ferrings on in a hot climate. Here in GA. It's high 80's to lower 90's.

Somewhere I read that at speed the lowers were designed to actually vent the air between the cylinders and push it off the engine. I remember on my old 1995 Evo, I had to adjust the lowers because they pushed the air right onto the backside of leg. Even today, at speed, I can position my hand off to the rear side of the engine and still feel heat coming off, so it must be working. Some may agree, some may disagree, but that was my finding.

One thing to note... The new adjustable fairing deflectors allow you to channel alot of air right down on the motor.  When it's hot I always point the airflow that way and it seems to feed plenty of air into that low presure zone.  I had aftermarket deflectors on my 99 Ultra and could keep the lowers on year round even though they weren't vented because of the added air flow.  Then if it rains I close 'em up and stay dry.

Hope that helps,
JC

Do you want to sell them?

Bought the "Quick Remove/Restore" kit from the MoCo, plus the cloth bag to store the lowers.  On my 03' I always took them off in the summer and back on in the winter.  I like this idea for the 07', because I can put them on if we get a cold snap in the summer in Ohio (????) and not enrich the Dealer.  The hardware works great.  Storage bag is a great idea and will preserve the paint.

Ride Safe.

...took them off and made a big difference in engine temp and rider comfort. Will go back on when the weather changes.
