cylinder head gasket - Hot very Hot - Mufflers broken by Hot
« on: October 02, 2007, 09:13:04 AM »

Hi,

I didn't have all the technical vocable to translate in English my issue, bu any way I think that most of you had this issue too.

I have a 07 model Orange-Black 12000 KM within 7 month.
I Have some oil going out from the back cylinder and the muffler is broken at the point where the two mufflers are plugs into the cylinder.

I have before put the machine within the STAGE 1 thinking that it will be enough to give some air to the machine, but it seems that it's not suffisant and I need to found new workaround.

My dealer is ready to make improvement but the motor company didn't gives to them enough feed back about this issue.

There are 3 CVO in our chapter having this same problem : One Springer and 2 Ultra.

Thanks for your advice.

Regards,

Bruno

Sounds like you have a leaking rear head gasket.  Probably just an oil leak and not a blown head gasket where you are lossing compression.  If I understand right sound like you broke the header pipe where the front and rear meet, this is qiute common.  Stage 1 air claener kit will help but you really need to change exhaust if you want to get the bike to breathe better.

Just a suggestion, remove original exhaust and replace with a 2-1 style of your preference in sound and appearance.  This is for increased exhaust scavenging.  Install SERT and have tuner enrichen the fueling load to around 13.9ish across most cells unless you have access to a dynomometer for precise tuning, this will aid in cooler combustion. I did this to my SERK when new and have yet to have trouble (yet!).   ???

Only a suggestion, do what you can and feel is right for you!  Good luck!  ;)

bsimshd, do you have to be TUV compliant? if so, you are gonna have a tough time correcting the heat problems.

if not, get a good tuner and 2 into 1 exhaust after correcting leak.
