Thanks Cary.  I want to look at the ones in this red SERG before much time goes by.  20k miles on it but you just never know with those things.

The 2000 model year also had issues with cam bearings during (I think) about the first half of the model year.  Since I've no idea if this beastie is early, late or past due that's another concern.  If the tensioners look ok I'll not do anything right now.  Then try to save a few SERG pennies and hopefully a winter project might be a gear drive conversion.
Doesn't have a MFR date on the VIN plate??

Don, '99 (TC's first year) was when they were puking cam bearings.  I'm not saying we're safe, but it's less of a worry with the 2000s.

When I had my 2000 Road King I learned the problem carried over in to the 2000 model year (guess how I know).  Its resolution came during the model year actually.  By mid year or so it had seemed to be resolved as I remember.  From the VIN I ought to be able to get a production date for this bike.  A little homework might let me know whether or not to consider it too much.

Hopefully, mine holds together on the dyno this week, then. :nervous:

Don't one of the stickers on the downtubes have the production month/year?

Now that you mention....   I think so.  Will have to look at that after while.

Got mine back yesterday.
Peak H/P went up 1.
Peak Torque went down 2.
But the dip in the  Torque curve is gone.
H/P 92, Torque 103

I should remember but don't.  Exhaust and other changes to the combination are?  And how early does the torque come in?  Mine feels like it catches its breath and is ready to go by about 2800.  By 3200 it's pulling hard (at least for it).  It's got enough early enough to be a fun ride.  Got no idea what the numbers might be.  But the butt dyno enjoys it ok.

We didn't change the cams (still stock) and the chains were OK also, just oil pump, cam bearings and tensioners, so no change in performance. I just didn't have the money to do new cams and gear drives. We are not in a recession, just keep saying that!

I'll second that, We are not in a recession....dammit!
