What color was the snake, Candy?  That will definitely get your attention first thing in the morning!!!

I wouldn't worry about a nest of them...he was just hunting a warm place to be for the winter, as they hibernate in cold months, but usually in the ground!!

I have this video in my mind of the entire incident...bet now that it's over, you both had a good laugh!!

I can't get the video out of my mind of the shot filled dresser drawer - forever more dead. 

We looked up on the net for VA Snakes, and Jamey figurers it was a rat snake, aka chicken snake.  The pattern was very geometric.  It was a little over a foot long and no bigger around than my little finger at it's widest point.  It did have the curl up and strike instinct down to a science, and I THINK it was hissing, but really, I think I could tell myself anything about that at the moment.

Thanks for the chuckly about it now though.  It is pretty funny.

After talking to you at the dealer today, I just had to read your entry.  This is a great story, but trust me, it was better hearing from you and seeing the expressions on your face.  What a hoot!!!  Thank goodness Jamey was around to ride in on his white steed and save the day. 

It was great seeing you and and Jamey today...hope your heated grips work a little longer this time.

That would be a RUDE awakening any morning.  Unexpected snake in the kitchen could be the direct cause of an unfortuante urinary moment.  At least the snake in your picturre wouldn't be a worry here.  Wrong eyes.  All the poisonous snakes here have slit eyes like a cat.  If they're round in the middle like the picture they aren't poison.  Doesn't mean they won't bite.  But it'll only piss you off if they do.
