Exhaust tail ends
« on: December 16, 2007, 12:41:32 PM »

My Fatboy had a stage one with Khrome Werks exhausts and the stock pipes on the FLHTCUSE2 are really quiet. I could never hear the fifth gear wine on the Fatboy, but ridding around for the last couple of days I think I can live with the silence, and the wine lets me know I’m only one away from top gear  :)

My only minor issue is the look from behind  :-[

Is there anything that can be put on the end to make it more pleasing on the eye or am I going to have drop some slip-ons on it?

Cheers,

Kev

Hello Kev,

It's possible to mount the CVO US exhausts.
They have  billet end caps with the same diameters.
Better look than ours HDI !

Interesting to see the difference in outlet diameter left vs. right. :nixweiss:

At a minimum, some high-temp flat black paint on the insides would help the look.  I sorta like the look of the slanted pipes myself, especially from the side, where they follow the lines of the bags.  Otherwise, to keep a quiet pipe on there, Jacques is a good idea and many times they (the US muffs) can be found here cheap.

I remember you our flap in the right side.
This flap closes half the right exhaust at idle and low rpm.
At 3500 rpm and more, the flap is open.
The dealers explain to the customers that it's for the noises level and EPA.
At 3500 rpm and more, it's possible to hear the similar HD sound.

For a real Stage 1, one way is acceptable : SE A/C, SERT or others and CVO US exhausts, SE exhausts or others without flaps ( exhaust and A/C).

This is really odd, why would the US exhaust be different? If anything I would have thought that the US EPA regs were tighter than EU regs. I guess it could have been worse, they could have fitted a really big clutch lever and a small brake lever  ;D

Hi Jacques,

Yes that is a nice look, I take you can put end caps on them. Do you have a part number for those exhausts in the picture?

Thank you Jacques,

I am going to check with my dealer first as I don't want to do anything that may invalidate the warranty.

Cheers,
