They are the same...but, on the J&M's they are tuned from the factory for the HK CB system, and the same ant. will operate the FM side just fine...it's not that critical.  I listen to XM 90% of the time anyway, so the FM ant. is just for decoration.

For the CB, the length of the antenna has everything to do with how the CB head unit performs.  I'm not an expert on this subject, but it effects the SWR, and if that is outside of certain parameters it is possible to burn up the CB unit on the radio.  With the J&M's you don't have to worry about it...some of the CB wizards here on the site say they are better than the stock whips in that regard.
Terry's absolutely right.  I spoke with the designer of the J&M antennas (who also happens to be the owner), and he stated that his antennas are better out of the package than the factory whips, and he's absolutely correct.  After I put mine on, I put the SWR meter between the radio and the antenna and didn't have to do any adjustments at all.  The antennas not only look great (don't go limp-d*ck in hot weather), but also work, IMO, better than the stock whips.

For those thinking about cutting or have cut down their stock whips, if you don't key your CB for long periods of time, you probably won't damage the finals on the radio...they make them pretty tough today...but you are going to be reflecting more power back into the radio than you are radiating on the antenna, so your performance will suffer greatly.  Remember, the stock whips, are already at a miserably de-tuned 3:1 SWR, (ideal is 1:1), meaning you're reflecting more energy back into the radio than is going out of the antenna.

The stockers are often worse than 3:1 out of the box.  You can get them close to 1:1 with a little work.  You MAY be able to shorten them to about 19" (about 1/8 wave) or so and get an acceptable SWR, though you may cut your range allot.  Though since the stockers are initially so bad, you can probably get by for a couple of years no matter what length they are and not burn up the CB.  Certainly most people never tune the CB and nothing goes wrong.
