Which map
« on: December 28, 2007, 03:07:46 PM »

Hello,not much experiece with this stuff,but need a map to breakin a 113 TC ,10-5 cmp,S&S 585 cams,RH 2-1,stock 103 TB,was looking at file #141NL003-A2,seems close othe than 50mm TB,or would a 1690 super high otput with 2-1 and stock TB be a better choice?BTW getting these from J version of SERT.
Thanks
Mike

Mvent,

My best suggestion to you would be talk to the guy that is going to tune your bike and ask him to give you a break in map for it.    If he doesn't have something close you might consider talking to another tuner that may have more experience with the bigger motors or this suggested combination.

I don't think there are many that will want to jump in here and say if this map would work or not there are too many unknowns as well as I don't think you have taken enough time to compare your cam timings wtih the one that this map uses as its base which is the 264 for starters.    I would think your cam is closer to the 257 or the 260 from HD, but I havent even looked that far into it.   Your injectors are most likely set up at 4.35 gm/sec these are based on 4.89 gm/sec.

Do you have 103+ heads as well?

Unbalanced,Thanks for the reply, actually I did load a map with similar lift and timing as 585,believe it was for 257 cam with 103+ heads and pistons yielding 10.5:1 comp,I did change tuning constants for size (113) and inj size, bike doesn't have 103+ heads, the heads are stock CVO 103 welded and reshaped by SBC yielding 10.5:1 with zero deck and a.040 head gasket. Also running 2-1 Rinehart.
Runs pretty good but feels a little lean with a little skipping rolling on and vibration around 3800 to 4200 rpm,no decel popping to speak of,although it was about 40f while riding.
As for local tuners, none with proficiency using SERT,all prefer PC,and the ones who claim to be,would prefer that they did the build.

If you have gotten this far you might want to invest in a Daytona Twin Tec system.   Your pipe already has the bungs in it and from there you can pretty much tune the bike yourself with the SERT.    It is a small learning curve and you will be able to get a pretty decent tune out of it.

From there all you will need is a dyno or lots of time on the road to try and fill in the 60-100 percent tables for your volumetric tables.   People normally dont ride there much, and as such it usually means a trip to a dyno for time not necessarily for them to tune it, but to use it for sweep tuning so you can capture more of those tables.
