You can ignore the fact that this article mentions - gasp - cars. the principles are the same. The only thing I'm not certain of is the "normal" amount of current flow for the bike's systems, ie radio, alarm,ecm ect.. I provide this link for your reading pleasure because I'm a lousy teacher and would undoubtedly leave a step or two out. Oh and when they mention "battery tester" insert "multimeter" or DVM set up to measure current(Amps/MilliAmps).

 And yes it is a pain, but you'll have to do it - maybe with a friends help because most dealers don't have a "tech" on staff who wants or can deal with this stuff.

I think it's still located under the battery tray on a 2007, accessed from the left side panel.  Refer to the attached instructions for actual replacement of the battery.  You can buy the Harley kit, or just buy a good 9V NiMH rechargeable battery where you normally buy batteries.

On an 07 SEUC, the 9 volt alarm battery is located under the right side panel, on the backside of the plastic plate the ECM mounts to...
