Chrome or Powder?
« on: January 16, 2008, 09:41:19 AM »

Since I'm getting the new frame covered in red candy powder coat I was also sending other parts along for the ride. One piece that I was sending was the front engine mount bracket. Even though it isn't really too visible. Enough would show that leaving it black would make it stand out.

I've also been looking to get some nicer engine stabilizer links to replace the stock zinc pieces. This morning I found this auction
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=120210267551 so I bought the pieces. The Velva-Ride engine mount is a nice plus that I won't mind using.

I wasn't looking for a chrome front engine mount bracket, but now I have one. So my question is:

Chrome or Powder? The top engine stabilizer bracket will be getting chromed if that makes a difference.

The box of pieces is getting mailed to Sumax today and I'm trying to figure out if I should send the front bracket.

Would anyone be interested in a chrome front engine mount bracket? Having only 1 bracket would make the decision for me.

Thanks for your input.

Clear powder over chrome for ease of maintenance with "bling loss".

If I had even thought about the question phrased that way, I could have saved your time.  ;D

You make it seem so much simpler.

MM,

That's the decision I made. I unpacked the piece I was sending to Sumax and plan on tossing it into the box of useless parts.

Chrome it is. It's purdier, shinier, easier to clean and it's purdier too.  ;D

Thread done. Thanks y'all.  :2vrolijk_21:

I did find out that the Velva-Ride front motor mount comes apart so the billet mount piece can be powder coated so it doesn't look out of place. If it was left polished billet, it would be the only piece of polished billet on the bike. This way, it will look in synch with the rest.

The Velva mount being made in pieces makes for a lot easier install than the 1 piece mount with the studs.  And it is a lot better mount.  Powdercoat or chrome, it will look nice, what you can see of it.

I wouldn't be going down this road except it is a case of "whileyou'reatititis" The box is already going to Sumax, so while you're at it, might as well get the block done too.  ;D

I just read what everyone has said about the Velva mount and stabilizer links. I hope I'm as happy.
