Question for tuners
« on: January 09, 2008, 02:05:23 PM »

I have a FXD with the 110 SE kit. I am running with V&H straight shots with the quiet baffles.
I would like to switch back and forth from my stock 2007 FXD (96 cu in) pipes and the V& H.
I am not worried about performance hits just whether or not the rich condition that will be generated will cause any damage to my mill.
My dealer won't give me my SERT map (bike is dialed in so nice), so it would be fruitless to have it tuned with the quiet stock pipes every time I wanted to swap them.
Any feedback?

I think you would be ok to run the same SERT map with either set of pipes and be just fine..  If it was a little rich, way better than too lean.

The SERT is yours and you paid for it, I can't believe some dealers.  I took them in a Zip (or whatever the correct name is) and the tech gave me my map and I went home and put it on my home computer, tweaked in a few areas, and downloaded to my bike.  Seems like some dealers thinks it's theirs.  They just want you to keep coming back for more dinero.

Not only that but chit can happen to ECMs.  When my 110 dropped its valve guide and quit running the tech at the out-of-town shop said that initially HD tech support thought I had an ecm problem and told him to re-load the map.  He did so (stock 110 map ? ? ?) not knowing I had a SERT map in it.  If he'd gotten it running I couldn't have ridden it home with that stock map in it.  From now on I'll be sure to carry the dongle and the sert map file with me - just in case.

deacon, after the performance mods you have done, installing the stock exhaust will make it ping like crazy---with heat backing up into the heads.
