Chaps My A**
« on: March 25, 2008, 08:18:50 PM »

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I was outside today and noticed pitting on the gas tank under the Harley Davidson logo located on the tank. It looks like an X on my tank. Tried to apply wax with a microfiber rag and no luck. The pits go across the pin strip black paint and gray.  I will take pictures and post them later. Mean while, I called the dealer and asked them when they can look at in order to order another tank.  They are to far and low on time. So I will try tomorrow if the weather holds up. Told will rain so, see how it goes...

But damn, am I pissed :soapbox: Real pissedddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd............

Sorry to hear about that, I hope it gets fixed with minimal time off the road.

Not to worry, although a hassle it should work out.

Most of us with SEUC "milk duds" have had the entire set of tins exhanged.

Good you caught it and most likely easy to exchange. :bananarock:

Here's a hunred seventeen pages of issues with the '06 SEUC's on paint:  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=3842.0

Update,
I took it to the deal and had an employer take a look at it. He went in the back and out came the manager. Well, I brought the bike around so he could take a look at it. He was a tall man and unable to bend over. So I stood the bike up while he looked at it. I mean, took his finger rubber on it back and forth. Then took his finger nail attempted to remove the scratches. At that time I told him, I guess now I get a new tank. The reply was simple, we are going to try and buff it out. With a laugh, I replied good luck.

Well, the bottom line NEW TANK.......
6-8 weeks maybe. Someone has front fender on order since Jan and still not arrived yet...
