Beer 401K
« on: February 07, 2008, 08:30:18 AM »

If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would
   now would be worth $49.00.

With Enron, you would have had $16.50 left of the original $1000.00.

With WorldCom, you would have had less than $5.00 left.

If you bought $1000 of Delta Air Lines stock you'd have $49.00 left.

But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of beer one year ago,
drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling:
   you would have had $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink
    heavily and recycle.

    It's called the 401-Keg Plan.

Ouch - that hurts.  I did just that (but a bit more than $1000) - the day before Nortel was caught by the SEC cooking their books and lying about their earnings.  The CEO and CFO were arrested and the stock plummented - and I watched my money evaporate.

So, me and many others are anxiously awaiting (only about 3 or 4 years so far) for the class action lawsuit to conclude.  I have my eye on a nice pair of socks I intend to buy with my share of what the lawyers leave behind.   :2vrolijk_21:

My ex-stock broker recommended Enron a few years ago.

Was going to offer to buy 1 of your socks, but it's not worth that much anymore.
