There's a screw on the front side of the upright bracket that had come loose.

Better check yours. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Yep Brian, I've had lots of trouble w/ the shifting bracket getting loose.  One day it came off completely as I was down=shifting.......makes for interesting manuvering.  [smiley=7.gif] Har!  I'm heavy into the locktite on the shifter link nuts now.  [smiley=worried.gif]

I lost that same screw on the last leg of an 8000 mile trip last year on my Road King.  My inside gear shift lever actually fell off and as I went to downshift as we entered a 60 mph zone coming into town I couldn't find the front shift pedal.  Thankfully, the local dealer is only a couple of blocks off the freeway and I managed to coax the bike in there.  The problem was immediately evident.  Great place for some blue loctite.
