Zumo improvements?
« on: February 29, 2008, 06:27:47 AM »

I was thinking about bidding for a Zumo 550 that's on ebay. Asked the guy how old it is, and he tells me 8 months - have there been any improvements to the Zumo since then that I'd miss out on?

I use 550 for the car & I don't think its changed. I believe you can download any changes & improvements from Zumo directly to your GPS.

There have been no physical improvements/changes to the units themselves all changes have been updates in software/firmware.

Jim,   I bought one about two years ago just after they first came out.  It has been fantastic. I've been all over the UK and Europe with it without a glitch.  I upgrade it on the net every eight weeks or so.  Also use it in the car.  I once dropped it on the deck from about three feet, I dusted it off and it works fine.

Be very carefull of scams on ebay there is some involving the Garmin Zumos.
Here is a link to a business in NY that came from everyprice.com

http://www.cameraaddict.com/viewproduct.aspx?ID=3613090&l=Everyprice

Been considering placing an order with them.
They just lowered the price from $585 to $555.

That looks like it makes it worth waiting a month or two and buying a new one, Kev.

Thanks for that!  :drink:

Thanks Jazz. The onboard HD one is so poor I feel I need to get an alternative.

That's certainly cheap!  Cheapest I can find over here is $615 + tax = $723
