I have the freedom cycle short fat antennae and it works but It looks pretty crummy.  I have two car cellular antennas from an autozone that work great they're about 12 inches and have the two inch coil like tye typical old car cellular antenna.  They're tough to find, but they work great.  I put a rubber grommet/washer over the mount cause they won't thread the whole way.  You end up with a nice low profile look.  Way better than the whip and I've always had really good reception with them.  I'm on the hunt for another one as I swiped one off my ultra for my seeg.  As I recall they're about $8.  You can find them in Canada at Canadian Tire.  I first saw these on an '03 ultra that a fella from Canada had on the first Can/AM ride.

Whatever you do, stay away from the antennas with the plastic base.  They split when you turn them on too far.  Found out the hard way.
