Sprocket and Wheel Combination -- Better Than I Expected
« on: September 27, 2009, 02:17:02 PM »

Had this pulley up in the attic for... I don't know how long.  Was a swap meet piece for (I think) $25 a long time ago.  Chrome is fine but the casting had some pits that weren't smoothed out before the chroming was done.  Pic is a pretty fair representation.

Couple months ago got a chance to get a pair of these chromed Street Glide wheels for $400.  Figured if I didn't use them on the old SERG could at least resell them and break even in a hurry.  They've got a really nice chrome job done on them.

Dragged the pulley down out of the attic an hour or so ago and liked the look of the two together.  So pressed some bearings in the wheel and voila; good to go.  Living its life behind the left saddlebag that bit of pitting in the pulley is never going to worry me.

Pressed in 1" bearings rather than 3/4".  So now will finally have to remember to order the StaBo III bushings from Puzzled so the wheel can go on with the change to the newer swingarm on the old 2000 model SERG.

Thanks guys.  The clear coated aluminum wagon wheels that are stock on the old SERG aren't bad.  But they're not great either.  I was never a fan of those FLHX wheels bare.  But liked them a lot when chromed.  This proved to be a not terribly expensive way to chrome things up a little.

Very nice.  What's going on at the front?

Ride safely,

It'll also be a chromed FLHX wheel Louis.  Same as the rear.  Scored the pair of them several weeks back.  Will transplant the rotors and rubber when it all comes apart sometime soon and then have more chrome to polish :2vrolijk_21: .
