input needed
« on: April 05, 2008, 07:02:34 PM »

I took my stock mufflers off on my 08 SERK and removed the baffles. I then cut off the catalytic converter and repacked the screen around the baffles, then replaced them on the bike. I also put a stage one kit on. Now I though by doing this I would get more air flow which I did, but I was told it would run hotter because of it running so lean. The temp has gone down to 195 WHY?? I did this also to give the bike a little more rumble which it also did, and I am happy with the new sound. I am now contemplating what kind of tuner to use I am leaning towards a Power commander because I can do everything myself and remove it if necessary to have Harley work on my bike under warranty if an emergency occurs.   Any input or ideas on this would be appreciated.  I have read a lot of the post on this and I still am unsure.

If you are referring to the oil temp, there could only be one thing that might be happening.
You have gone to the back side of the afr curve and have lots more air to the max fuel the afr can go for the program settings. It doesn't mean you are running cooler, just that you aren't generating enough burn.
There will be hell to pay later.
