help with SERT
« on: April 07, 2008, 08:01:38 PM »

This may be a dumb question but here it goes.  I bought a used 06 SEUC that already had a race tuner installed on it.  I'm in the process of rolling my own filter and installing a set of rinehart true duals.  This friday I'm scheduled to have it dyno'd and remapped.  What all should've came with the SERT that I've got to take to the dealer with me.  The SERT box that I got with the bike has a CD and some computer cables and I believe that's it.  Also is there anything that I need to make sure is on the bike that is for the SERT?  As you can see this is all new to me.  I'd appreciate any advice/help.   Hacksaw   p.s. love the forum.

The most important thing you'll need is the "dongle or interface" it's a black rectangular box about an inch wide/tall and couple inches long. On each end will be places where you would be able to connect the cables you have. This is what connects to the ECM and will only work w/your ECM, w/o it they will not be able to tune/change the map in your bike. If you can post a picture of what you have.

I believe I have this, it was connected to one of the computer cables already and had a place to connect on the other side.  The computer cable was connected to it with two small thumb screws, hopefully this is the dongle you were talking about.  Thanks again for the help.  If all goes well I will be able to post some dyno numbers friday or saturday.

Sounds like you have it, but this is what the dongle/interface looks like...

d00d's got you straight.  The interface is the key to your SERT so you or your tech can talk to your bike.  Sounds like you are ready for the dealer.

Once the remapping is done, ask for a copy of the map.  Take a USB backup apparatus (forgot the name) to put the finished map on.   They probably won't give it to you but some will.  This way if something ever happens to the driveability or other work done, you know where you are at for a base point.  Hope it makes sense.

92.3 hp and 94 lbs tq.  Rode the bike yesterday and could feel a little difference low end, and quite a bit of difference about 3000 rpm's and up.  Love the sound of them duals.
