Oil Leak ( different than usual post)
« on: April 23, 2008, 04:23:57 AM »

With 40 miles on the new bike ( FLHTCUSE3) found a fresh oil spot in my garage, imagine my suprise when I discovered the camshafts cover was leaking along its bottom edge ( between the cover, and and the crankcase).
Rode back to the dealer today, they were nice enough, dropped what they were doing to take a look, but had to order a cam cover gasket ( none in stock ).
Needless to say I am very disapointed.

I don't know what's sadder, the fact that your new bike has a leak or that the dealer did not have the gasket in stock.

No cam cover gasket in stock???   Heck, even I have a cam cover gasket hanging on the wall of my garage....   :nixweiss:

That is really sad they do not have one....And there is nothing special about it.

I went to another dealer today, and purchased one on my own. I don't want to wait until next week. I plan on returning my dealer Friday, for the repair to be completed.

Took bike back to dealer ( with my new gasket in hand), now here is the best part, the tech took the cam cover off; reason for the leak? No gasket was ever installed when the engine was assembled, thats right, no gasket was to be found.

WOW,
You must have been florred and I had to read this twice.
That is UN-SAT-isfactory.
I can just imagine what other issues like that will come from
the newer 110s.
Glad you caught it early and back in action.
